BECOME A HOST GYM
BRING YOUR FITNESS COMMUNITY TOGETHER TO RAISE FUNDS AND AWaRENESS FOR VETERANS, first responders AND THEIR FAMILIES
24 Hours of Heroes thrives in community-based gyms for several key reasons that align with its mission of honoring military and first responders while fostering public awareness and support:
Inclusive ParticipationA community-based gym invites participation from a broad range of people—military, first responders, and civilians alike. It bridges the gap between these groups, creating a shared experience that emphasizes unity and respect for the sacrifices of heroes. Holding the event exclusively on a military base could limit participation to only those within that circle, reducing the community impact and connection. Maximizing Fundraising PotentialA public gym can drive more involvement, which means more potential for fundraising efforts that benefit military charities, first responders, and their families. A military base might have restrictions on public participation and fundraising activities, limiting the potential to generate financial support and engagement.
Raising AwarenessIn a community setting, 24 Hours of Heroes raises awareness about the challenges and sacrifices faced by military personnel and first responders. The more diverse the group, the greater the reach in terms of education and honoring these individuals. It helps civilians better understand the realities of service, while showing their support and solidarity through participation.
Fostering Community EngagementA community-based gym offers a unique opportunity to connect people from different walks of life. By hosting the event at a local gym, it emphasizes the community spirit that CrossFit embodies. This setting promotes the idea that everyone, regardless of background, can come together to honor these heroes, support one another, and engage in meaningful physical challenges.
By holding the event in a community gym, 24 Hours of Heroes becomes a shared experience, one that builds bridges between civilians and service members, raises public awareness, and maximizes support for these causes.

gym EXPRESSIONS OF INTERST
24 Hours of Heroes is run across 24 hours and is a fundraising event. It does what it says on the box. Teams of 6 will rotate across the 24 hours to complete all 24 workouts. These workouts have very special meaning behind each one. They have been created in honour of men and women who have lost their lives in the line of duty. It's possible you have already completed some of these inside your gym. Our event is always held in April around ANZAC Day to bring even more focus to remembering our fallen brothers and sisters.
As a host gym, you would:
- Be a community based gym.
- Come together as a fitness community to sweat, have some fun, and support Wounded Heroes Australia,NZ RSA and other charities supporting first responders.
- Organise and put together teams of 6 to complete the workouts.
- Support your teams fundraising efforts including engaging local businesses to support and donate. Each team MUST raise a minimum of $600/team.
- Ensure you have enough space and equipment for teams to complete the hero workouts in a safe environment. This means having enough space for one person in each team to complete the workouts at the same time and enough space to have all team members of all teams out on the floor to complete the final workout.
- Provide space for participants to hang out and sleep throughout the day and night.
- Select team captains that will manage and support their teams.
- You do not need to be a CrossFit affiliate gym however as most of the workouts have their origins in CrossFit, a sound knowledge of CrossFit and/or functional movement is essential and knowledge of these hero workouts is recommended.
