Q) Do we need a Captain?A) Yep, the captain will register the team (and themselves) and then their team mates join that team.
Q) Can teams be mixed?A) Teams can be same sex or mixed.
Q) Can I participate as an individual?A) No, all individuals must be registered in a team. However, if you would like to complete more workouts alongside your team mates please speak directly to your host gym to see if there is enough space and equipment to facilitate that. Please also remember your safety is important and this is a long and gruelling event hence we run the event as teams so you can share the load. Q) How many workouts?A) One hero workout starting at the top of every hour, so 24.
Q) So how many will I do?A) We suggest a minimum of 4 workouts completed by each participant however there are some partner workouts and the final workout is "All in" with all participants so some may do more.
Q) Can my team change the order at any point?A) Not the order of the actual workouts but yes, to the order in which your team members complete the posted workouts. ( do not recommend this) The workouts are scheduled to avoid repetition of movements if you complete in a sequential order ie. participant 1 completes workout 1, 7, 14, 21 etc
Q) You keep mentioning “Hero workouts”. What’s a hero workout?A) A Hero workout is a tribute to a fallen first responder or member of the military who died whilst serving honourably in the line of duty or as a result of a mental health related illness related to military life.
Q) Do we find out the workouts before the day?A) Yes, all workouts will be released progressively before the day.
Q) So do I have to be there for the full 24 hours?A) Well, no, you don’t but remember what the event is about. Honouring those men and women to put yourself out of your comfort zone for 24 hours seems like a very small price to pay to remember those that paid the ultimate price. So to duck away to get a good night sleep in your own bed kind of goes against the grain of the event.
In addition, it's great to support your fellow team mates especially during the fatigue in the middle of the night.
Q) Is there anywhere I can sleep if I need to?A) Please speak directly with your host gym. Bring a swag or a rolled up mattress, pitch a tent outside (on concrete at all the locations, so bring a mat), bring a camper trailer (let us know beforehand so we can be sure it will fit).
Q) Where can I get food?A) Most people will bring food however please check directly with your host gym to see what food retailers are close by or if they are arranging any food trucks over the weekend.
Q) How can someone get involved if they can’t participate on the day?A) Donations can be made to an individual, team or the event as a whole.
Q) Actually, I can come on the day but I can’t workout, can I help?A) Yes please, we love the help and support. Please speak to your host gym to see how you can help.
Q) I run a business, and I would like to get involved, how can I do that?A) Excellent, we are looking for event sponsors to support each workout.
Email - Zak@24hoursofheroes.com.au for more details.
Q) Donations, are these tax deductible?A) Great question, and one for your accountant. We can confirm though that 100% of the donations (not the registration fee) goes directly to Wounded Heroes Australia & RSA New Zealand who are registered charity organisation.
Q) I have a few more questions, where can I get some answers?A) Shoot an email over to - admin@24hoursofheroes.com.au and we’ll be happy to answer all your questions.
